Finally! Being notorious as the dance machine of the famous K-pop group, Blackpink. Lalisa ‘Lisa’ Manoban got record views for the video for her first solo single. The video for Lalisa, Lisa’s first solo song, has had more than 120 million views on YouTube since its release on Friday, September 10, 2021.
Way to go, Lisa!
The World Music Awards, which tracks popular recording artists said on twitter that Lalisa was the fastest-breaking video ever by a female K-pop artist, having topped 30 million views in five hours and 30 minutes. Traders at a popular market in Bangkok said that since the release of the said MV, there had been a surge in sales of traditional outfits and accessories which Lisa used or are relatively similar to what she wore in the video. Customer Mew Lalita, 40, agreed with Lisa’s fans that her national costume in her video would help make their cultural heritage more accessible both at home and abroad.
Although YouTube has not yet confirmed the music video’s official 24-hour view count, it appears that Lalisa may have set a new record for the highest number of views ever achieved by a solo artist’s music video in its first 24 hours. If YouTube confirms the figure, Lisa will have broken the previous record of 65.2 million set by Taylor Swift’s 2019 hit “Me!” featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco.
