Ed Sheeran was hailed last Friday as the British Solo artist to claim a full year at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, and it looks like he’s extending his stay this Monday, September 20, 2021.

The singer claimed his 14th Official Big Top 40 Number 1 this Sunday as his new single ‘Shivers’ climbed to the top and it follows ‘Bad Habits’ and ‘Visiting Hours’ to become Ed’s third Number 1 of the year so far. Ed is now four Number 1’s ahead of his closest rival – fellow Brit Calvin Harris who holds an impressive 10 trophies. This is the first time Ed has ever replaced his own solo record at #1. And makes it his 12th consecutive week at the top of the charts. And although Ed is no stranger to op spot on the singles chart in his home country of the U.K., this recent tally is still difficult to believe, even for someone as massively popular as he is. Sheeran is gearing up to release his new album = (pronounced Equals), which is slated to arrive in late October. So far, both proper singles have debuted at No. 1 in the U.K., while promotional cut “Visiting Hours” landed at No. 5 a short time ago. Ed commented “(Equals) is a really personal record and one that means a lot to me. My life changed greatly over the past few years – I got married, became a father, experienced loss, and I reflect on these topics over the course of the album. I see it as my coming-of-age record, and I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you.”
