Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival, commonly abbreviated to “Clockenflap”, is an annual music and arts festival held in Hong Kong. It is by far, Hong Kong’s best festival, and for three incredible days the city unites in art, music, and community.  Boasting a massive and diverse line up and an unbelievable atmosphere all set against Hong Kong’s famous skyline; Clockenflap is a must for music festivals fanatics everywhere!

Aside from the economic benefits of Clockenflap, the festival also plays an important role in promoting up-and-coming acts and artists. It was assumed that attendees are exposed to new music, get inspired and search out the bands after the event. Clockenflap festival was due to take place between November 26 and 28, but unfortunately, it has cancelled its 2021 event citing the city’s strict, ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Clockenflap organizers announced on Wednesday that November’s event had been withdrawn, partially because the authorities required attendees to be seated, with no food or drink allowed on site. Coordinators said they had hoped until recently to host the event at Central Harbourfront, but ongoing restrictions on international travel and the recently tightened rules and regulations on running large scale outdoor events in Hong Kong had made it impossible. This year’s edition was supposedly Clockenflap’s big return after being cancelled the previous year due to the rising international tensions and escalations of protests in Hong Kong. Some international big stars were already scheduled to perform, apparently, this decision has been revoked for year 2021.

“Until recently, we were confident Clockenflap could be run in a way that would be safe and deliver a great festival experience,” a statement posted in twitter. “Unfortunately, with further tightening of the Food and Health Bureau framework of pandemic restrictions concerning event licensing… it is impossible to deliver a true Clockenflap Festival experience.”

For the third year in a row, the Clockenflap Music & Arts Festival is not happening in Hong Kong. Ticket holders can keep their tickets for 2022 or get a refund. Ticket holders have until the end of October to apply for a refund.
