Justin Bieber is entering the marijuana market and is calling them “Peaches,” the name of a song from his most recent album. The limited-edition marijuana cigarettes or joints called “Peaches Pre-Rolls” are named after a song from Bieber’s newest studio album and will be available in California, Nevada, Massachusetts and Florida, Palms Premium said.
“I’m a fan of Palms and what they are doing by making cannabis approachable and helping to destigmatize it – especially for the many people who find it helpful for their mental health,” Bieber said in an emailed statement. A spokeswoman declined to share financial terms of the collaboration.
According to the Palms website and an interview Bieber gave to Vogue, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the line will be donated to Last Prisoner Project, which advocates for criminal justice reform around drug policy, and Veterans Walk and Talk, a charity that incorporates walking, cannabis and psychedelic use as therapy for former service people.
“Weed was something that I felt people tried to make me feel bad for enjoying,” Bieber told Vogue. “But I’ve now found a place in my life for weed products that have been beneficial in my human experience.” Bieber, 27, has been open about how the pressures of child stardom and drug use contributed to his own mental health challenges. In a YouTube documentary series last year, he said he tried marijuana when he was 12 or 13 and eventually grew to feel dependent on it, though he said not everyone has the same experience.Also, on Monday, Bieber shared exclusively with PEOPLE a clip from his upcoming Amazon Studios’ Prime Video documentary Justin Bieber: Our World. “I definitely felt the nerves leading up to it,” Bieber told Jason Kennedy. “I think sometimes nerves are coming from a good place, because you care.” The show, in which Bieber performed at the Beverly Hilton Hotel before a small crowd of invited guests and the millions of fans who tuned into the livestream, and the preparation that went into it are chronicled in Justin Bieber: Our World, which is set for release on Oct. 8 on Amazon Prime Video.
