The Filipina beauty queen from Batangas was crowned Miss Globe at the Opera Theater Tirana, Albania last Saturday morning, November 6, 2021 (Philippine Time).

An early favorite, Mau won the second spot in both the swimsuit preliminary as well as the head-to-head challenge. In the final Q&A, her espousal on the merits of beauty to winning the crown gained applause and approval – not only from the 10-member panel of judges, but from her co-candidates as well.

“All of our efforts were worth it; my heart is so full of gratitude. All of the work, the wishing, the waiting, and the praying has finally paid off. I can’t wait to embark on this next adventure as your Miss Globe 2021,” the 28-year-old model-host said.

During her Q&A, she was asked “Do you think beauty is a merit and how can we enrich it with other values?” the Filipino candidate then answered, “I think that true beauty comes from within. To be a miss globe is to be a beauty that inspires. What makes us beautiful is our smiles — it’s what we do for our community, it’s how we give back to others and it’s how we carry ourselves through life. I believe that everyone has beauty inside of them, and I believe it is our duty to share it with the world and to give back, and to truly inspire others.”

Maureen shone throughout the competition – for the swimsuit segment, she strutted in a sleek black-and-white two-piece bikini, and for the evening gown competition, she wowed audiences with her form-fitting gold gown. For the pre-pageant national costume competition, Maureen donned an intricately designed “Sampaguita” costume by Filipino fashion designer Patrick Isorena. Maureen also placed first runner-up in the people’s choice, miss bikini, and head-to-head challenge pre-pageant competitions.

Maureen was crowned together with Nigeria (1st runner-up), Turkey (2nd runner-up), Venezuela (3rd runner-up) and Canada (4th runner-up). Aside from the winners, the other ladies who made it to the semifinal round were Estonia (winner of the people’s choice award, for topping the online poll), Brazil, Dominican Republic, Germany (who won as Miss Social Media), Greece (who won as Miss Talent), Kazakhstan, Romania, Malaysia (winner of the head-to-head challenge), USA and Guyana (who won as Miss Bikini). While the other winners of the minor awards were South Africa (Miss Friendship), Finland (Miss Photogenic), Siberia (Miss Elegance), Italy (Miss Runway Model) and Peru (Best National Costume).
