Switchfoot is an alternative rock band formed of: Jon Foreman (lead vocals), Tim Foreman (bass), Jerome Fontamillas (keys), Drew Shirley (guitar) and Chad Butler (percussion) from San Diego, US. They are best known for their alternative rock guitar driven tracks and their ability to mix it up with more slow tempo songs intertwined with elegant string arrangements.
While Switchfoot has made a lot of remarkable concerts live on stage, it’s going to be a whole lot different for this year. The band just dropped an Instagram post saying that although they have not been able to do shows in the traditional way, they decided to do their own version of the after shows in a chunk of cities, where they will bring along with them their cameras and will stream live for the viewers on Monday, October 18th.
“Our music has always been for anyone who is open-minded enough to jump into the dialogue. Agnostic, atheist, consumerist, Jewish, Muslim, doubters, believers, haters, lovers, LGBTQ-plus and everyone else who is brave enough to look for meaning,” Foreman said in an interview.
Their new hot single called ‘Interrobang’ is their twelfth studio album. The band wished to explore themes of disunity and common ground, choosing to work with producer Tony Berg as they felt that the stark difference between their Christian viewpoint and his atheistic viewpoint would lend well to these themes.
The new album comes from a combination of the technical name for the question mark (the “interrogation point”), and the printer’s slang for an exclamation point (“bang”). And unfortunately, that mixed messaging of the album title seems to come through in the sometimes-aimless song paths and tempos that make up the bulk of the album.
