Taylor Swift has officially released her re-recorded version of the 1989 song “Wildest Dreams.” She previously previewed the song in a teaser trailer for Spirit Untamed, a children’s movie whose soundtrack features contributions from Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold. The new version quickly beats the Original Song’s Spotify Record for Single-Day Plays, as per Variety. The track passed the 2 million plays mark on Spotify.

Swift has been recording her first six albums after her old record label. Big Machine Records, sold her master recording. After signing a new record deal with Universal’s Republic Records in 2018, in which she ensured she’d own her future masters, Swift announced that she was recording her old music in a bid to get her versions of those songs to overtake the popularity of the originals. The rerecorded songs are dubbed “Taylor’s Version.”

In its original version from seven years ago, “Wildest Dreams” reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went to No. 1 on the Mainstream Top 40 and Adult Top 40 charts.

“Red (Taylor’s Version)” is set for Nov. 19 release. Although the album is up for pre-order, no singles from that collection have been issued as of yet. Fans will presumably have to wait until at least next year to get the full “1989” do-over, as Swift hasn’t indicated whether that album is even coming next after “Red” in the rollout of re-records.

Social media heading and catchphrase: Taylor’s Version hits higher than the first releases.
