‘DG Light’ literally sparkled the catwalk in their Spring/Summer 2022 women collection in their shimmery sequined blouses and rock-studded mini-skirts and trousers.
The show was organized in a disco-like atmosphere with glimmering mirrors as a backdrop, also featured are black biker jackets and camouflaged overcoats, cargo pants worn with crystal-encrusted tops, fringed gold and silver dresses. The collection is a reinterpretation aesthetic codes of the 2000s’ and the references certainly aren’t subtle. Skirts with wide belts and giant embellished buckles complete the frame. In addition, gold lamé skinny trousers, low-slung cargo pants styled with a D&G monogram chain with underwear peeking up over waistlines adds up to the runway.
The lights and glitzy glamour of the event were a call to leave behind the darkness of the coronavirus pandemic. Backstage Gabbana said, “We thought we’d do something not similar, but in the same mood as that 2000 collection. We’re coming out of a dark time—meaning the pandemic— and we want to enjoy life. We want light”. Metropol venue glinted like a diamond, with a mirrored runway, a faceted backdrop, and no fewer than 75 spotlights, The models, at times resembling mermaids, were openly smiling on the runway, and Armani said the world today needed sweetness, kindness and smiles.
Over all, the show ended with a brighter note with colors and designs exhibiting positivity amidst the pandemic. It was the kind of show that we all deserve, complete from reflective embellishments, all-over sequins and shiny jacquard, to gemstone-studded purple jeans, they were all magnifique. but in the immediate aftermath of a long time stuck inside, we want the kind of dazzling, jaws-to-the-floor party looks that D&G is offering.
