Celebrities eyeing to run in 2022 PH elections

From celebrities to politicians? Do you think they can make it?

A bunch of celebrity personalities are stating their interest in running for electoral posts for 2022 general elections and some even have already filed for COC- from former child star, beauty pageant title holders, to veteran actors.

Here’s a list of some celebrities vying for next year’s election for local and national posts:

  • Nash Aguas- the former Goin’ Bulilit star will be running as a Councilor in Cavite City.
  • Jason Abalos, actor – Provincial Board Member of the 2nd District of Nueva Ecija
  • Ejay Falcon, actor – Vice Governor, Oriental Mindoro
  • Richard Yap, actor – Representative of the 1st District of Cebu City 
  • Jhong Hilario, actor and host – Councilor, Makati City (ABS-CBN News) 
  • Anjo Yllana, comedian and actor – Congressman of the 4th District of Camarines Sur (ABS-CBN News)
  • Lucy Torres-Gomez, actress and current representative of the 4th district of Leyte – Mayor, Ormoc City 
  • Richard Gomez, actor and current mayor of Ormoc City – Representative of 4th district of Leyte 
  • Dennis Padilla, actor – Councilor, Caloocan City
  • Arjo Atayde, actor – Congressman, Quezon City
  • Karla Estrada, actress – running under Tingog Sinirangan party-list group
  • Claudine Barretto – Councilor, Caloocan City
  • Nora Aunor, actress – running under National Organization for Responsive Advocacies for the Arts (NORA A) party-list group (ABS-CBN News)
  • Vandolph Quizon, actor – Councilor, Parañaque City (PEP)
  • Shamcey Supsup, former beauty queen – running under ARTE party-list group

National posts

  • Isko Moreno, former matinee idol and current Manila mayor – running for President
  • Tito Sotto, actor, musician, senator – running for Vice President
  • Raffy Tulfo, broadcaster – running for Senator
  • Herbert Bautista, actor and former Quezon City mayor – Senator
  • Noli de Castro, broadcaster and former vice president – Senator
  • Robin Padilla, actor – Senator

Filing of Certificate of Candidacy started in October 1 and ended last October 8, 2021 for aspirant candidates running for local positions and within that span of time, the above-mentioned personalities have already primed their way for next year’s election.

The national and local elections is scheduled to be held on May 2022 while Barangay elections will be on December the same year.
