Conde Nast Traveler, a New York-based lifestyle travel magazine, recognized Siargao Island as the best island and top tourist destination in Asia for the 34th Readers’ Choice Awards 2021.
Siargao Island is known for its spectacular waves offering several surfing breaks for surf enthusiasts. This picture-perfect island is also home for other amazing island adventures and activities such as cave explorations, rock climbing, island hopping, among others.
Other notable islands in the Philippines also earned a spot for this year’s top 10 list with Palawan and Boracay making it to the third and eight rank.

Since its exposure to foreign thrills-seekers and surfers, the island started to get recognized by locals and other countries as well which ultimately led to being promoted by PH local government through marketing campaigns and helped paved the way for more tourists visits from around the globe.
Siargao Island is dubbed as the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines”. The island has also hosted surfing competitions where international and local surfers get to participate and enjoy the sport. These include the Siaragao Cup and the 2019 South East Asian (SEA) Games.
Siargao has been included in Conde Nast Traveler’s top 10 list of best islands in Asia since its eminence and even topped the list in 2018.
This year’s commendation, through the conducted survey by CNT to readers across the globe, manifests how people and travelers would like to behold the wonders of the country’s gem once again.
